Rooted in the South.
Growing everything.

I did not learn plants from the internet. I learned them growing up Southern, where houseplants and home gardens were just part of life. Now I have 150+ of my own and years of knowing what actually works — not just what sounds good on paper.

Everything I create comes from inside my world. My mirror. My plants. My practice. Real experience written down so you do not have to figure it out the hard way.

The Chopstick Test

Stop guessing when to water. Stick a wooden chopstick into the soil. If it comes out clean — time to water. Soil still clinging — leave it alone. No schedule needed.

Watering
02

What Yellow Leaves Mean

Yellow leaves almost always mean overwatering. Let the soil dry out completely before you touch it again. Most plants die from too much love, not too little.

Troubleshooting
03

Mix Your Own Soil

50% cococoir, 20% perlite, 10% worm castings, 10% activated charcoal. This is what Ms. CottonBlu uses across all 150+ of her plants. Good soil is everything.

Light Audit First

Before placing a new plant, spend 3 days tracking where sunlight actually lands. Use your compass — south gets the most light, north the least. Match the plant to the light.

Wait 30 Days to Repot

When you bring a new plant home, wait at least 30 days before repotting. Transplant shock is real. Let your plant settle into its new environment first.

Brown Tips = Low Humidity

Brown crispy tips are almost always a humidity problem, not watering. Group your plants together or use a pebble tray — plants create their own humidity when grouped.
